About Our Pastor The Leader
In addition to being the Pastor of the Starlight St. James Missionary Baprist Church, he is also the Moderator of the Christian Fellowship Baptist District Association, Treasurer for the Illinois National Baptist State Convention, Treasurer for the National Moderators Council, Worship Leader for the Evangelical Board of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., member of the finance committee of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., and member of the Foreign & Home Mission Board(s) of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. Member of the Baptist Minister's Conference of Chicago, Greater Roseland Health Desparities Project, 34th Ward Minister's Alliance, & The Chicago Police Sub-Commettee.
About Our Shepherd The Visionary
Through Pastor Barrett's vision, Starlight St. James the family church has now become the global purpose divine church defining its true meaning; "Building Man, Building Ministry, Building the Masses!"
In keeping with the church's motto, he is working to build and strengthen ministry leaders, in addition to himself, by requiring that ministry leaders seek opportunities in higher learning. For he strongly feels as Hosea 4:6 states "people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge."
About Our Pastor The Teacher
Our Pastor has taught many thought provoking teaching series - The people having a mind to work, Prosperity Isn't an evil thing, Praise and Worship, Our Armor of Protection, just to name a few. Workshops on Halloween and Satanism, What We Believe, Understanding Baptist Doctrine, Articles of faith. As well Becoming Purpose Driven, Personal Evangelism and a "Back To The Basics" Bible Study. He is constantly presenting series and classes to stimulate our minds and promote spiritual growth.
About Our Pastor The Family Man
Reverend Irvin L. Barrett is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He comes from a long line of Pastors (his father (a pastor) the late Reverend Samuel L. Barrett, uncles the late Reverend J. L. Barrett, NJ the late Reverend Thomas L. Barrett Sr., cousin Pastor T.L. Barrett, Jr., the late Reverend George L. Barrett, Reverend Luther Williams of Memphis Tn, Ministers, Deacons, and Gospel Singers, (his brother Ron Barrett & The Barrett Sisters) to name a few.
Preaching his first sermon at the age of 15 he has not peaked, but continues to progress in God's Kingdom.
Pastor Barrett is the last offspring of the late Pastor S. L. Barrett and Lady Edwina Barrett(still an active member and outstanding supporter). He has 4 surviving siblings (Samuel, Deloris, James & Ronald). He has been married since July 16, 1994 to Lady Nickquolette Barrett and has two beautiful children, Irvin II and Nadia My Angel.
Pastor Barrett has been greatly instrumental in writing the vision, making it plain, helping Starlight St. James to run and not faint during his years of service.
